The purpose of the Sectional Titles Schemes Management (STSM) Act, No 8 of 2011 is to provide for the establishment of bodies corporate to manage and regulate sections and common property in sectional titles schemes and, for that purpose, to apply rules applicable to such schemes and a sectional titles schemes management advisory council.

The Sectional Titles Schemes Management (STSM) Act, No 8 of 2011 was gazetted and signed by the President in June 2011. This Act as well as the Sectional Titles Schemes Management Regulations, 2016 became effective on 7 October 2016.

Community Schemes Ombud Services Act, No 9 Of 2011

The Purpose of the Community Schemes Ombud Services Act, No 9 of 2011 is to provide for: (a) the establishment of the Service; (b) the functions, operations and governance of the Service; and (c) a dispute resolution mechanism in community schemes.

The Community Schemes Services Ombud Act No 9 of 2011 was gazetted and signed by the President in June 2011. This Act as well as the Regulations on the Community Schemes Ombud Services, 2016 became effective on 7 October 2016. The Regulations dealing with levies and fees to be paid was gazetted on 7 October 2016, and will come into operation 90 days from publication (as stated in Section 5), therefore on 5 January 2017.
