Chartered accountant (CA[SA]), Peace Mabaso is a financial manager at FNB’s private bank lending business unit, as well as executive member of the Ekulindeni Reunion Foundation (ERF). He’s a shining example of a CA(SA) flourishing in the office while also helping others step onto the road to success. But Peace wouldn’t be where he is today without several boosts from SAICA’s Thuthuka programmes – the first of these when he was still at school.
UJ student’s farming project clinches top spot at 2019 Student Leadership Summit
Johannesburg, 21 October 2019: The UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a framework for the changes the world needs to make to solve poverty, world hunger, poor health, the lack of quality education, climate change, gender inequality, environmental issues, and more. That’s why this year’s South African Institute of Chartered Accountants’ (SAICA’s) annual Student Leadership Summit (SLS) challenged BCom CA-stream accounting students from around the country to think bigger. To enter, students had to come up with community-based solutions for one or more of the goals. Earlier this month, University of Johannesburg’s (UJ’s) Bonginkosi Kalipa’s Team3 Farm project won top honours.

WSU accreditation: a massive boost for the Eastern Cape
Eastern Cape, Thursday 18 October 2018 – As the poorest of South Africa’s nine provinces, many believe that opportunities for economic growth in the Eastern Cape are rare. The Government has been very vocal about the fact that the only way to change this is to improve the standard of education in the province and thus minimise the impact of the triple challenges of poverty, unemployment and inequality on the province.
