SAICA Mentorship Programme 2024
A profession is only as good as the quality of the individual professionals that make it up and, in particular, a shared capacity to work and learn together. These are essential prerequisites for a profession that seeks to serve society.
SAICA has facilitated a successful mentorship programme since 2017 and is continuing to expand the programme this year for a fifth round, with even more participants in more regions.
The programme is aligned to both the CA of the Future and the post-qualification framework, Pathways to Relevance, and exposes members and associates to an ongoing, iterative and tacit learning process in an evolving programme structure. It enables participants to be more confident to handle the chaos and ambiguity of the complex systems we find ourselves in, with a more professional, assertive and consistent presence. The structure ensures that there is benefit to members and associates of all levels. As mentees, we consider applications from newly qualified CAs or AGAs, as well as trainees in their final two years of their training contract. Mentors and programme ambassadors who apply for the programme are more experienced.
Each year the detailed design of the programme changes, with innovations created through an engagement between members and associates, lead facilitators and SAICA itself. This has created a rich, multifaceted and multidimensional programme that supports ongoing career, professional and leadership development for all people involved in the programme.
The design that has resulted from this emergent and iterative process since 2017, means that SAICA is closer to meeting the aim of developing individuals in the profession as well as facilitating their ability to learn, create and innovate together.
There is no cost involved to participate in the SAICA mentorship programme.
