In his 2019 State of the Nation Address, President Ramaphosa said South Africa had chosen to be a country of the future at a time when the world was changing at a pace and in a manner that was unprecedented in human history.
Together, SAICA and the University of Johannesburg (UJ) has heeded this call and we invite you to the launch of a first-of-its -kind series of short online learning programmes aimed at equipping accountants with skills to navigate the Fourth Industrial Revolution (or 4IR).
4IR for Accountants is the first of a suite of four courses built especially for CAs(SA) to assist them in embracing the lifelong learning journey to adapting to the inter connected technological world we live in today.
ABOUT 4IR FOR ACCOUNTANTS:
This fully online course provides an introduction to the fourth industrial revolution by exploring a few topics within this realm. These topics include Artificial intelligence, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Blockchain and Ethics.
Throughout the course, you will be provided with basic technical explanations of the various topics from experts within the field as well as how this affects you in your role as a CA(SA).
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Chartered accountants (CAs[SA]), Associate General Accountants (AGAs[SA]) and trainee accountants.

AT THE END OF THE COURSE, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO:
- Create value within any business as a Financial Professional who understands the impact of technologies from the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) in your role as a CA(SA).
- Identify and assess key concerns with regard to the future of AI systems.
- Identify and asses key challenges to the widespread application of blockchain.
- Identify business processes suited to AI applications and implementation.
- Develop a business strategy aligned to business objectives in respect of 4IR.
- Argue moral and ethical behaviour in business and in the public interest with regard to implementing new technologies that are emerging from the 4IR.
- Combine judgement and decision making acumen with digital acumen for successful implementation of new technologies within relevant areas in business as it relates to financial professionals.

DURATION OF COURSE:
Minimum of 8 weeks (Once, you have successfully completed the course, you will receive an electronic Certificate of Competency and will be able to log 40 CPD hours)
Please note that this course is competency based however, it will take approximately 40 hours to complete. You will be allowed 8 weeks from date of registration to complete.
Since the course is 100% online, this means you have maximum flexibility and can start the course at any point in time (you must, however, finish the course within 8 weeks of starting it – this includes successfully completing the quiz for each module and the final assessment)

Cost for SAICA members: R4 350
Discount price for companies registering 10 – 19 employees: R4 100 per person
Discount price for companies registering more than 20 employees: R3 999 per person
