Fayruz Mohamed, CA(SA)

Fayruz Mohamed holds a unique position in that she leads one of the largest and longest serving Zakat management institutions in South Africa. She currently serves her second term as the first female National Chairperson of SANZAF. She has been involved with SANZAF, as an unpaid professional, for over two decades, including 18 years as part of its national and regional executive in various capacities. Fayruz is a CA(SA) and Certified Director. In addition, she is internationally certified in Zakat management and has an international Islamic Finance qualification. She currently serves as a non-executive director and independent audit committee member on various boards within the Islamic finance, financial services, private and government sectors. Fayruz has been recognized, for her advocacy efforts, women empowerment initiatives and work done within the Islamic Finance industry, as the 6th Most Influential Women in Islamic Business and Finance conferred by Cambridge IFA in the UK and in 2023 received the SAICA Chairman’s Difference Maker Award as well as the Mail & Guardian Women in Power Award. More recently, she was awarded WOMANi 5-Star Alumni & Influencer for the year 2023, also conferred by Cambridge IFA in the UK. She has represented South Africa on various international fora to share her knowledge on topics related to Zakat, Governance and Women in Leadership.
