  • 28 February 2025 – South Africa recorded a preliminary trade balance deficit of R16.4 billion in January 2025. This deficit was attributable to exports of R149.0 billion and imports of R165.4 billion.

Due date for comment: 7 March 2025

  • 28 February 2025 – Income Tax Act, 1962: The income tax notices, as published in Government Gazette 52199 of 28 February 2025, relate to –

determination of the daily amount in respect of meals and incidental costs for purposes of section 8(1)(c)(ii) (overnight allowance);

determination of the daily amount in respect of meals and incidental costs for purposes of section 8(1)(a)(ii) (daily allowance); and

fixing the rate per kilometre in respect of motor vehicles – section 8(1)(b)(ii) and (iii).

  • 3 March 2025 – The state provides state warehouses for the safekeeping of goods. These are managed by Customs. The purpose of this list of unentered goods is to notify the importer, exporter and any other person that has interest in the goods that the goods have been taken up into the State warehouse and if they remain unentered they will be disposed in accordance with the provisions of the Customs & Excise Act.

3 March 2025 – The facility codes used in Box 30 of Goods Declaration (GD) have been updated to include the details of the newly approved Transit Shed – Bidfreight Port Operations (Pty) Ltd (located in Durban).

This webinar, in collaboration with the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC), will explain the process of deregistering a small business from both SARS and CIPC.

The objective of this webinar is to:
