Thuthuka set to forge more meaningful partnerships in 2024
In 2024, the Thuthuka team is embarking on a mission to make a lasting impact on aspiring African and Coloured accountants through strategic collaborations. The intention is to intensify efforts to increase funding for the Thuthuka Bursary Fund, created to support students pursuing a chartered accounting qualification at accredited SAICA universities in South Africa. One of the key partnerships that resonates with Thuthuka's mission is the collaboration with Runzone, a running club based in Johannesburg.
This partnership is rooted on the shared value of lacing up for a good cause. The collaboration between Runzone and SAICA aims not only to enhance personal well-being through running but also to extend the impact to a larger community and cause. The belief is that running offers unique networking opportunities for professionals and individuals alike to forge friendships and partnerships while prioritising physical, mental, and emotional well-being which aligns with the core principles of both organisations. Through this collaboration, Thuthuka aspires to cultivate numerous friendships and partnerships, expand its network and increase its capacity to fund more students.
The "Gear up for Thuthuka" initiative, initiated by UK-based SAICA member, Khosi Hlongwane CA(SA), exemplifies the power that you can start from where you are and make a meaningful difference. Khosi's dedication saw her participating in marathons, such as the London Marathon, to rally pledges and donations for the Thuthuka Bursary Fund. Her selfless contributions paved the way for others like Ongeziwe Nyenjala, Milton Segal, Thandokuhle Myoli, Ebrahim Lambert, Hein Bellingan, Christan van der Berg and Apiwe Twaku to lace up and join the cause. The success of this initiative reflects not only in the funds raised but also in the positive impact on aspiring students – and the growth of the Gear Up for Thuthuka community.
As Thuthuka looks ahead to 2024, they extend an open call to individuals, whether affiliated with Runzone or not, to gear up for Thuthuka. By pledging on the SAICA website or initiating personal initiatives, anyone can contribute to this noble cause. The emphasis is on the idea that every contribution, regardless of its size, counts in making a difference. Furthermore, Thuthuka encourages individuals to leverage their passions by rallying friends, family, colleagues, and acquaintances to support their "Gear for Thuthuka" initiatives.
Thuthuka looks forward to forging more partnerships with individuals, corporates, businesses, and organisations in 2024 and beyond. By uniting efforts and resources, Thuthuka aims to create a meaningful difference in the lives of aspiring accountants and contribute to the future of the profession in South Africa.
