Podcast: SDG 1 - Lize Lubbe
Lize Lübbe is a CA(SA) and CGMA and currently a Principal at Phatisa. She has more than 10 years of experience in advisory, investment management and business growth roles and has worked across the African continent. Her current role entails leading the end-to-end investment process as part of the Phatisa investment team, which includes new investments as well as mergers, acquisitions and exits of portfolio companies. She is also responsible for value-add projects across portfolio companies and serves as board member on their boards of directors.
She started her career in audit at PricewaterhouseCoopers where after she specialised in corporate finance at the same firm. She subsequently worked at a South African venture capital fund as an investment officer, leading investments in small and medium-sized enterprises from cradle to grave and working with portfolio companies at board level.
Lize holds a B.Com (Hons) (Cum Laude) in Accounting as well as a Certificate in Impact Investing (Frontier Market Scouts Fellowship Program) from the Middelbury Institute of International Studies (California). As part of this program, she completed a research fellowship on best practice in impact investing and venture capital in Silicon Valley, New York City and Washington DC. She is also a regular speaker and thought leader in the fields of private equity, impact investing and venture capital.
She is a 2019 category winner in the SAICA Top 35 under 35 competition and serves on the #FinBiz2030 SDG Task Force as the SDG 10 (Reduced Inequality) leader. She is also a professional violinist and full-time member of the Gauteng Philharmonic Orchestra.
