UJ student’s farming project clinches top spot at 2019 Student Leadership Summit
Johannesburg, 21 October 2019: The UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a framework for the changes the world needs to make to solve poverty, world hunger, poor health, the lack of quality education, climate change, gender inequality, environmental issues, and more. That’s why this year’s South African Institute of Chartered Accountants’ (SAICA’s) annual Student Leadership Summit (SLS) challenged BCom CA-stream accounting students from around the country to think bigger. To enter, students had to come up with community-based solutions for one or more of the goals. Earlier this month, University of Johannesburg’s (UJ’s) Bonginkosi Kalipa’s Team3 Farm project won top honours.

Students called to rally behind the Global Goals
Johannesburg: Monday, 26 August 2019 – Entries for the 2019 Student Leadership Summit (SLS) are now open. This year, instead of being a thought leadership essay writing competition as it has in the past 10 year, students are being challenged to put together a Sustainable Development Goal (or SDG) focused business case that illustrates how they would empower and improve the country through a community-based project that works towards solving one or more of the UN's SDGs.
