Piet is the current Head of Tax Risk Management & Regulatory Compliance at Nedbank. He has been in the Nedbank Group Tax department since April 2010 with various responsibilities, including tax advisor to Nedbank CIB, Head of Direct Tax and Head of Tax Advisory & Risk Management. He has more than 24 years’ experience in tax, including tax planning, tax compliance, tax assurance and tax controversy. He has 10 years’ experience in risk management, including development and implementation of tax strategies, tax policies, risk control frameworks and governance. He contributes his knowledge and experience to various internal and external governance and advisory committees, including Chairperson of the SAICA Northern Region Tax Sub-committee, member of the SAICA National Tax Committee, alternate member of the BASA Direct Tax Committee and invitee to various risk committees in Nedbank.
